Wanting to hear some of the methods you all use to give your chams water.. I work 6-7days a week and have long hours and I need something easier and more efficient to keep water and the humidity up in the enclosure.. Any ideas would be great thanks...

Hi there, I hear ya on the long hours! I work from 7am to about6pm. I have 3 different timers going all day. The first is my light timer. It turns on at 7am and off at 8:30pm. Then I have my misting system (rain maker) set to go off at 7:30am, 11:30am, 3:30pm and 7:00pm in 10 minute sessions of very fine mist. I all so have a timer set on my humidifer, but I only use it if the nights are cold and I have to turn my heater in my house up, then I'll set it up the next day to help out with the dry air. I have to get up at 5am, takes me 1/2 hour to get myself ready, and about an hour to change water refill the dripers, which I have on a very slow drip and put food out for the chams and give them a little TLC. At night I come home and let them roam free and eat more for about an hour while I feed the crickets, and silkworms and put fresh veggies in the crickets and kingworm bins. I replenish my food for the feeders on the weekends I'll buy veggies on sunday and chop them up and have them ready to go for the week. The weekend is when "everyone" gets their "rooms" cleaned. I clean the cham cages, cricket cages, and the silkies get their rooms cleaned daily as they are pretty messy.
I would definately reccomend a misting system. I've had mine for about a year and a half and along with the timers it's made a world of difference and allowed me to stay not so crazy! Chams are a ton of work, but my motto is work smarter not harder! There is a plant store called the indoor garden here that sells the timers for half the price of what you would pay at a pet store. Not sure if you can find something like that where you live but it can save you some money.

i see your three timers and up you 1 timer...

4 timers!!!

1) main lights--6:30-7:00
2) mister-4x a day for 15 minutes
3) big apple mystic UV bulb 12:00-2:00
4) humidifier every two hours for 1/2 hour

i work long hours and agree a auto mister is a requirement
i only need about 5 minutes in the morn for the cham although i usually spend about 1/2 hour enjoying the guy

Up my timer? Hey up your timer! Just kidding, how do you like the apple mystic light? I have heard very mixed reviews, so I stick with my ReptiGlos. Is that all you need is 2 hours, or is it an extra light? How far away from the chams do you have to put it. I do agree that an auto mister is a must unless you can work from home. How big is your reserve? Mine is 5 gal. and I threw an aquarium heater in there. I don't see any way around it. What kind of mister do you have? I've got a rainmaker and have never had any problems with it.

great come back w/ the up your timer!!!

the mystic bulb I possibly ran into the issues that i am sure you are referring.
my veileds eyes were remaining closed after about 3-5 days of 12 hour useage.

I said possibly because i did a number of things to get him back to health including upping the humidity, an extra mist cycle as well as eliminating the mystic temporarily. So i am unwilling to condemn the bulb, but cannot endorse it either, I use it cause i have it. I now run a 7-8 month old 3' reptisun 5.0, a regular florescent tube a regular coil florescent and a 100 watt basking light for 12 hours and the mystic for 2 hours.

the mister is a homemade one using a soon to be replaced pump sprayer, a washing maching valve and a humidifier nozzle...works great just get tiresome having to pump it in the morning.

Ya, that was one of the biggies that I heard on the light. Notice any change in your cham since you started using it?

I wish I was creative enough to create my own mister!! I've had 2 a rain maker jr, which was good, but not for what I needed so I had to get a rain maker 1. My inability to MacGyver a mister has costed me some money!!
Have a great day!
