Mega-ray flood lamp?

Awhile ago i asked about good UVB lamps and someone pointed to this website, I am very interested in getting the bulb the is shown in the link below. But I just have one question, it says it needs to be a minimun of 12inches away, i can easily do that because my tank is really tall, but what are the dangers of it being a couple inches closer? Will it hurt my beardie?

I would like to know an answer to this as well. I bought one about a week ago, and it seems to work well. BUt, I have it about 8 inches from the top of the dragon....... I really didn't pay any attention to the idea of a minimum distance. Can it give too much UVB at that distance?
