Atheris Squamigera / Ceratophora

ndugu5 Feb 16, 2005 12:33 PM

I am about to complete the LONG process of getting my venomous. I have decided on the Atheris Squamigera and the Atheris Ceratophora as the two types of vipers I favor. I have been looking and am having a hard time finding a breeder (not just a breeder, but a reputable one). Can anyone recommend a reputable place?

*Sorry, the specific Ceratophora is the Tiger Phase.

Only a small handful of folks are working with Atheris. Our facility is working with Atheris nitschei. You might reconsider your choice only because there is currently no known antivenin for this particular species. Some speculate that the Echis carinate A/V has a neutralizing effect on Atheris but I don't have any hard data to support this claim (but it could work). They are really neat creatures but healthy animals are hard to find. You might try Exotic Reptiles Jungle; I got some real nice jungle phase A. cerat. from them if you decide this is what you want.
