Should I throw out the wood and fake plants? (MITES)More...

or can I just soak them in bleachwater?

I dusted the snakes and the bottems of two fresh tanks. I put down newspaper on top of the sevin dust in the tanks and put in new hides and water dishes...I hope this is right.I dont know if the younger snake has mites but I had just moved him into the bigger ones larger tank so Im assuming he would have gotten them anyway.

One more Q..How do I make sure there are no mites in the old tanks? Ive bleached them and let them stand empty. Is there a certain length of time that the mites and eggs live?

If I throw the old cypress in the yard will I get mites in my yard?

little bit of bleach in water.soak 20 minutes ......

soapy dish liquid water works too ..rinse well with both and let set for a day or two....

...hot water works pretty well.........brush if needed....

........clean tank and all else...........

even Listerine .........

.your yard will have reptile mites..........safe to all but reptiles....is it cold there?.....it's cold here.......they may die.........don't matter.you ,dog, and birds and that little girl down the street are safe I would say

I dont want these mites to infest the rest of my snakes..I wonder are the mites here in the US that infest our corns the same as the ones that infest the Balls and Boas?

Mites can travel a good distance from your setup.Ive always put a little under the cage and a light dusting around the top for the straglers.I like to keep it there for a couple of weeks because who knows how many eggs could be laid in your carpet or in a seam at the top of your tank...Paul
