Tegu feeding irregular

dmlove Feb 16, 2005 08:46 PM

Well Im building a bigger cage for my Arg. BW tegu, so he is a tiny bit cramped compared to what he is getting, but anyway - He is hiding most of the day, havnt seen him out in a while. I know he isnt brumating cause when I move the mulch and find him he comes out ravenous. I feel bad waking him up all the time so I dont, I feed him a few hoppers every other day. Im hoping, especially once I get my rodent pro order in, to feed him every day. I ordered weanlings, because I think he could take one a day. Is this okay? Im afriad that I am not feeding him as much as I should. Should I continute to wake him up...everyday? Every other day? Just lemme know!

- You would come running out to if someone was digging around creating a disturbance in the mulch. He very well could be burmating.

- This should be fine

Im afriad that I am not feeding him as much as I should.

- I typically feed untill the folds on the sides are non-existant, or untill the animal tells me they are done.

Should I continute to wake him up...everyday? Every other day?

- NO..if the animal wants to burmate or hide let him/her! I typically don't even see my albinos till around 9:00pm - 1:00am! When I see them I feed them, otherwise I leave them alone. If they want to hide, I let them. My adults go days on end without food as if they aren't out, I don't disturb them.
