Fish Oil and Whole Sheds

mrand Feb 17, 2005 06:07 PM

a few whiles back i asked a question concerning shedding problems and diet. a few of you suggested that a varied diet, especially one with an occasional fish thrown in, might improve shedding.

i just got the first whole shed from my 2.5 yo female eastern. exactly two months ago i started putting a little cod liver oil on the mice/rats/quail i gave her (she wouldn't touch smelt or trout). when i say a little, we're talking about 2-3 drops max. i discontinued the treatment after about four weeks.

food additive for thought,

matt

That's great news, Matt!

None of my Drys have incurred a problem with ecdysis during the past ten years, the time when I began adding trout and fish oil to their weekly diets...
Glad to hear it appears to have worked for you as well.

Best regards,

Jeff
