got eggs? Tokay layed!!

fliptop Feb 17, 2005 07:29 PM

Well, I felt something was up the last few days, and sure enough, I peeked into the tank last night and saw two white round eggs stuck to the glass near the heat lamp.

I wish I could've got them out to throw them in the incubator, but hopefully they'll make it stuck where they are.

I'm sure when I have time to do a thorough search, I'll find out these answers, but if anyone feels inclined to reply:

1. What's your average incubation time?
2. If you've had a similar experience (and successful at that), what sort of advice can you give me?

I am excited, especially to know I could potentially be hatching my own tokays from my beautiful animals!

So Dakman, we may soon have a tokay trade coming up!!

Thanks, all,

fliptop

and good luck. I watch for hatchlings after about 90 days, mine average about 100 days. If your worried about the eggs falling you could tape a deli cup over them, put a little vermiculite in the bottom and air holes. You don't need to worry about the adults with the eggs or babies when they hatch. Don't spray/mist the eggs directly. I believe my females lay their eggs where they find is a good place for them to hatch so I wouldn't move or change your heat source to much. Be sure to feed your female well and if you don't already nows a good time to put a cap or lid with extra calcium in the tank for her. She will prob keep laying clutch's every bout 30 days apart.

I have a couple(so far) eggs incubating a little over a month now. They will be my first hatchlings from CB Tokays hatched at my house. I'm very interested in a trade, I need some new blood this year to continue my project and will need positive CB's. Let me know if you have more Q's.

Here's a couple older pics to look at. I no longer cover eggs, but if your worried about safety if their up high this is how I did it, you can even see a hatchling just coming out of it's egg.
