Banded Albino? Albino Clown? Reduced Pattern Albino?

jtmb85 Feb 17, 2005 09:59 PM

Why have I not seen these morphes? Did I miss them? Are they hard to produce (like the Albino Genetic Stripe)? Or has noone tried to produce them? Or better yet... Just simply given up or found it not worth the effort? If I've said it once, I've said it a million times; I'm not any good with genetics. But, I don't see why these morphes couldn't be possible. Any ideas or facts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James

It's too early in the game. I don't think people realize how young the designer ball industry is. There are still many double mutations to be done and lets not even think about the triple combos...

Give it some time.. these projects take years. I have a pair of genetic banded animals that are 50% pos het for albino. Maybe I'll be the first!

I'd love to see one. The reason I was asking is b/c in the near future I'm going to get into breeding... And I don't want to do the same thing everyone else is doing. I want to see new morphs come out. Thanks for the answer.

We call him Frosty. I wouldn't really say that his pattern is genetic because I haven't bred him out.

high contrast yes........beautifull colors yes......but if this was a normaly colored animal it would not be considered reduced at all

Oz is right about the designer facet of ball mutations still being in it's infancy.

But there is another component you may be over looking. A banded or reduced pattern albino isn't really that striking of a combo.

Right now I think people are attempting some of the possibly more vibrant combinations...albino, pastel, platinum and mojave pieds are a few that come to mind. People will pay more for a stunning morph combo than they will for something that is so-so.

And of course everyone will have their opinions about future combos so it is fair to say that even though I really wouldn't care if my albinos are striped, zig zagged, or polka dotted so long as they are albino another person would most likely offer up their first born for a pair.
