Anyone find any good garters in Texas anymore? I live just south of Dallas. I put out some tin this winter in hopes of fliping in spring to catch some snakes. Any other ideas? Also. Last year a buddy called and had a snake at his house about 6" or so. Not very big. But this little guy bowed up rattled its tall and struck like a mad man. It was darkish grey with spots. Could this be a baby spotted? I took it to a wooded pasture and let it go.

Thanks,

Derek

Your find sounds like a checkered garter, but without seeing it I can't be for sure.

Speaking of checkereds, I found lots in San Antonio; last year a friend found a "hypomelanistic" (greatly reduced spotting and much lighter ground color), and another found an anerythristic (it was BLUE!).
