HELP!! Failed first attempt at breeding.

landen8205 Feb 18, 2005 07:09 AM

I've got some sort of parasite. New to geckos so i'm not sure what it is. Several of them have a developed a dark grey/green shade in their bellies . two are worse than the others. One appears to have a dark spot that moves spots in his belly. The affected geckos are not eating well and not gaining weight or losing weight. any help is appreciated

Please take these poor little guys/girls to the vet!!!!You shouldn't attempt to breed unhealthy animals because if the breeding doesn't kill them, then the parasites certainly will.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Sounds to me like impaction, Ive had it happen to me before. It can lead to death, how long have they been like this? and what type of substrate do you keep them on?

I've kept all of them on papertowels. not a substrate problem. after doing some research, i think that its crypto. Darkening in their belly(grey green under skin), they lost weight very fast and unfortunatly this all started after i purchased 1.2 hypos from...you guessed it - PETCO. Is there anything anyone can tell me as a known treatment. I'll be taking them to the vet on monday. seeing if there was anything i can do in the mean time.
