can behavior play a part in sex?

audioandroid Feb 18, 2005 10:42 AM

i've started out with 4 juvie cresteds. they are all right now together in a 55 gallon tank. untill i can determine sex i'm planning on keeping them together. however, one seems he could be developing the bulge so i'm assuming possibly male. the other three do not show any signs yet of being male. the interesting thing is that the one showing the buldge will hang by himself where as the other three curl up together on the same leaf. Am I just being to hopefull? or can this be a sign of sex?

It is time to seperate any that look to be male from the others. The one that looks male may be bullying the others. If you dont tails will be damaged or lost and the victims will not grow at the same rate as the bully. The females can not safely breed untill they are at least 35 grams. If they are just now becoming sexable you probably have at least 6 months before it is safe to breed them. Paitence is very important to the long term health of your geckos. Good Luck!

No I wouldn't say so, it is the same with people the dad "your probable male" doesn't want to hang around the kids "the other three" all day he wants to hang out with a female, and you get the drift.Hope this helped you will be pretty luck if the other three turn out to be female.Good luck

thing is they are all the same size. there seems to be no bullying going on. will a juvie male still want to be around a female?
