Hard/Rough Water...Can this hurt my gecko? Substitute? Sparkling Water?

brakordestructor Feb 18, 2005 01:12 PM

I have recently moved to a home that has notoriously hard drinking water.

Im not sure what the minerals are in it, but I think that it could be rough on a smaller animal...

I don't want to risk it, so I wanted to know what the best substitute is? Should I just boil the water? Or should I give my geckos Evian?

I was also wondering about sparkling water...
I noticed that Some sparkling waters have high calcium percentages...Does anyone have experience???

thanks,

sparkling water is usually carbonated, i definately wouldn't use that. you can get water additives to offset the minerals in the water. i just go to the grocery store and fill up a 5gal jug every week. cost 1.25 after you buy the jug and it's easy enough.

distilled water has a negligable amount of minerals etc. as well as no chlorine. this sounds like the perfect solution for your situation. you can buy it at the grocery store/ walmart in 1 gallon jugs or more at some places.
