Breeding behavior?

treeclimnelf Feb 18, 2005 08:43 PM

Hi, I have had 2 standard leopard gecko's for 6 months. I got them when they were juviniles so their pretty mature now. I seperated them soon after I got them, a 10 gal tank is too small for two! I thought they were both females but today one bit the other when I put them in the same cage, the other was getting new subdtrait. after I seperated them I watched the one that did the biting and when it it saw the other it started rattling its tail. Now I'm pretty sure that that one's a male. I just wanted to know if the bite was agressive or a love bite. - the elf

yep thats breeding behaviour, and the one that rattled his tail is the male. Dont let them mate unless they (and you) are ready for eggs. you can read other posts on this forum to learn what age and weight they need to be at to safely breed.
