I'm asking here because.....

...there are several people whose opinion I value. BTW....one has disappeared...where are you Oldherper? When in the gestation is the best time to ultrasound for gravidity? Are there any tricks anyone can share about how to perform the procedure?

I am still very green at ultrasonography and have not yet attempted to try a snake. I can do the basics, determining pregnancy in mammals such as cats and dogs simply without much effort. I have chosen not to attempt my snakes because of adding stress to them by taking them to the clinic and having to somewhat restrain them physically. Anyone have any tricks of the trade to share? If I don't think it can be simply accomplished I won't even try for the sake of the snake's stress factors.

to contact Peter Tolson at the Toledo Zoological Park. He was working on ultrasonography techniques with boids over 15 years ago and is considered one of the best in this field. Good luck,

Kelly

I always read the replies you make, and am grateful you take the time to reply. I have to admit, I really was hoping you could offer a suggestion.

Thank You,
Linda

That's an excellent contact Kelly. I would also suggest using the vet info network (www.vin.com) message boards. They have many great exotic specialists on board to help the vet community.

I checked out that site recently when you suggested to someone else and I liked it. I didn't register at the time, but I think I will.
