captive hatched turtle questions

mathjock Feb 18, 2005 09:19 PM

I just rescued a 3 year old turtle from a pathetic existence. Before I put this captive hatched but not captive breed turtle in one of my tank with other turts; what should I know?

I am particularly worried about parasites or diseases infecting my other turtles. Is this a legitimate concern?

Thank You

A quarenteen period of at least several weeks is always smart before you introduce a new turtle to your current turtle and it's tank. This will allow you enough time to observe it for any health issues, cooties, etc. Also, if you are concerned about any intestinal parasites or other assorted yuck, an option is to take a fecal sample to a vet's office and have it analyzed.

Glad to hear you are helping this turtle out and providing him a better life! Best of luck!
