Any one use native plants for dart tank?

poisonfrog420 Jul 07, 2003 04:02 PM

Hi, I am going to set up a 20l with rock, soil, moss and some smaller local plants that I am going to collect in a large wooded area behind my house. I live in south east kansas. Has any one done this for darts before? Are there going to be any problems that any one can think of? I may also put some tropical plants in there too, I really don't know. I would like to hear from people that have done this before. What would your recommend for light for this tank? Thanks for all of your help, Jacob.

Hey,

I live in north central Kansas and use moss I collected from out side in my tank that will have P. aurotaenia 'green banded' in it. I have gone on herping trips to southeast kansas and seen some of the plants, which are nice. I think they sould be fine if there are no pesticides/insecticides used around the area and you clean them well. Good luck.

I live in northeast Kansas (Lawrence) and use moss I collected locally in one of my azureus tanks. I grows really well and spreads onto wood easily.
