My cham Lola update

jwthought Feb 19, 2005 11:38 AM

I havent been on in several months but i thought that those of you who were my "support group" when my female veiled had surgery might be interested in an update. After the surgery, which was about, 4-5 months ago, she wasnt looking to good and i didnt think she was going to make. Well, she looks alot better now. She has lost the use of the lower half of her tail, but she is eating fairly well and seems to be in considerably less pain. We still have to feed her with a seringe every other day or so, but she will eat hand fed crickets occasionally. So, slowly but surely, we are nursing back to health. Thanks again.

Josh! I was so worried about you two! I emailed you in early January but got no reply I am so glad to hear she is doing better!!! You've been such a good cham dad

So the tail is just dead but no need to amputate? Hopefully she will continue to heal and eat on her own again. At least you don't have to worry about any more clutches!

Stay in touch...

Sorry i havent been on in a while. I've been doing alot of traveling lately. I have to give alot of credit to my girlfriend who has, against her will, become quite the replite nanny in my absence. Lola is doing alot better, and as for her tail, it looks like it is shriveled up and about to fall off, like a baby's belly button when it's an infant. I should have taken her back to the vet to get that checked out, but after the surgery i couldnt afford it. At least at this point, it's not spreading aand doesnt seem to be causing her pain so I'm keeping a close eye on it and watching for infections ( i put neosporin on it occasionally to prevent infection). Im pleased with the way things are going at this point. The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that she absolutely hates me! Unfortunately, we have to handles her alot to feed her and she gets really upset, especially when i hold her. I cant blame her though. I think she associates me with the pain of her operation. She doesnt mind my girlfriend though. Im admittedly jealous. Anyway, hopefully everyone in your zoo is doing well. Let me know.
