bearded dragon enclosure help needed

denise1 Feb 19, 2005 12:04 PM

I would like to build an enclosure for my beardie...what would good dimensions be? I want him to have plenty of room especially since he's a german giant cross and may get quite big...approximately how much would the glass cost? how thick should the glass be? I am planning to have a glass front, glass sides and a wood (or some such material back). I would like to mount the lighting on the inside since I do not like having to remove lights each time I need access to his tank and Smaug doesn't like it either. I guess the bottom would be glass or have to be some easy to clean surface...he will have ceramic tile substrate...any additional info would be greatly appreciated...thank you...

I would suggest using mostly wood as this one is. Glass is just too heavy, too hard to work with, and too costly imho. The four pcs of glass on this cage are only 15"X21" and cost me nearly $70, Which is more than I paid for the wood, stain, and finish for the rest of the cage.
