I keep my ball python hatchling(obtained in june when he was a month old) in a 20 gallon long. I just purchased an Exo-Terra cave(the magnetic one where you can see it without opening the tank) size large. Is it ok to have a hide on each side of the tank? He already has a stump in his "cool end"

You can have as many hides as you want in the cage, it will not bother the snake.

Not only is it OK, but I think it's neccesary. Having a hide at the cool end and one at the warm end will be good for the snake so he doesn't have to sacrifice comfort for security and vice versa.
