Where to buy?

rich-k Feb 19, 2005 04:24 PM

Where's the most reliable place to purchase a nice, regular old eastern box turtle as a hatchling?

Thanks in advance,

check the classified, usually late in the year, though hatching can occur as early as may-june, just watch the classifeds.

Check some of the box turtle forums, such as the one Yahoo Groups. Hobbyists often swap or give away their excess hatchlings to good homes, just for the joy of the experience.

Occasionally rescues will have them to, if you make them aware of your desire for a hatchling.
