Mealworms...

MultipleMorphHerps Feb 19, 2005 06:08 PM

Anyone feed their beardeds mealworms more than crickets? Are there any positives or negatives to this? I am feeding all of my dragons the vegies/pellets and mealworms, and they seem to love the mealies more than crickets.

Mealworms have the disadvantage of having a lot of indigestible chitin (the hard outer shell). In babies, in particular, there is a risk of impaction. For adults, the main concern is that they are a lesser nutritious choice than silkworms, roaches or even dusted superworms.
