DIY cage

JandM Feb 19, 2005 06:25 PM

This is the cage that Santa sent with our Xmas geckos Sheila and Ruby. My son and I are already thinking about a bigger better set up! The humid hide is the big blue dino egg - this was my son's idea and is very cool. The geckos look like dinosaurs when they poke their heads out. It has an entrance that is mid way up the side and is reached via the ramped rock. The piled rocks on the left provide a multi level hide.

The cage has a sliding glass front that is shown partly open.

Enjoy!

That egg is so great! Now I want one. Whole setup looks very good and fun for them. You did make sure those rocks are secure and won't shift and fall on anyone?
Haven't heard from you lately. Did your guys recover from their illness ok?

You can get one of these cool eggs at bigger toy stores. They even come with a great dragon and are available in different colors. They split opne and have a rubber/latex membrane over the hole in the side. We cut a nice hole in ours and provides a gentle entrance for our girls.

Here is a sample link:

It was terrible giving them their meds, but it was worth it. They are both putting on weight again and the more solid poops are WAY easier to clean up! All is well with the girls.

I'm so glad to hear it!

I LOVE that set up. Your son has a very pretty dino egg, and I was wondering if you know where I could get one like that. It's gorgeous and I'm quite the palentology buff (I'd like to get one for myself as something to put as a decoration in my room).
