Hey guys,
This is my first go around at breeding western hogs... I live in a hot part of TX, so I definitely don't get cold enough to drop them down to 60*f, but I did turn the heat off and the room dipped into the mid 60's off and on. Average temperature was probably around 70*f.
I am having luck with my pairings with this semi-brumation. I was just wondering if through the generations of breeding the westerns in captivity we have lessened their need for a brumation period before breeding.
Just wondering if any of you have had success breeding the westerns with little to no brumation period.
Basically, how important is a brumation period when breeding westerns? Even though the temps didn't get as low as outside, I'm sure they can feel the seasons changing somewhat...?
Please excuse any spelling/grammar erros, it's late =
Thanks for the help.
