switching to tile

zachb1373 Feb 20, 2005 04:47 PM

i am thinking about switching to tile, i have noticed with the green carpet that sometimes when they feed they get there mouths caught on the cqarpet i dont think it they are hurt by this but i don't want to take a chance. besides seeing all the differnt setups lately i really like what it looks like. i hope this helps some of the newer people when deciding what type of bedding to use.

Not only does there mouth get caught up on the carpet, so does their toes.

Are you talking about the Trex Retile carpet? I just got one for my new setup, but it's got like a gloss almost on it that I think would prevent from the gecko getting caught on the fibers. Maybe it's not the same. My tang gecko is coming the 1st of March, so if it is the same, I think I'm going to change it before she gets here. I wanted to go with tile too, but the Home Depot by me only sells it in large quantities and I can't find it anywhere else. Any suggestions?

try menards or a store that sells only tile. i know what typr of carpet you have it is like astro turf. mine is the carpet type they sell it at petco and petsmart. there are two types that i have seen one comes in a roll and the other comes in packs of two. i did not get the astroturf stuff ause i thought it would rub there bellys raw

It's not astroturf. I know what you're talking about though. I used to use that with my iguana. The stuff I have is from Petco and I made a mistake, it's called ESU Reptile Lizard Liner Terrarium Carpet. It's almost glazed over and it seems that there are no fibers that my gecko would get caught on. I think I'm gonna stick with that for now, maybe upgrade to tile later. There are like no stores in my area that carry tiles individually, except mosaic tiles for grouting.

i think it is the same thing, it is a pain to clean so what i do is take the extras i have(have to cut to fit) and put it over there bathroom makes clean up a lot easier and every three weeks or so i do a total tank clean. that way i am not stressing them out as much. just watch them when they eat see if they do the same thing. hope it helps
