Still trying to get my BP to eat F/T from Live, and once successfully w/ prekilled...any pointers? He hasn't eaten in a long time, but I guess it could be a winter fast (he did this last winter).
Thanks,
Bob

I've had really good luck getting them to switch over the winter...i.e. keep offering them F/T during the fast, once they start eating again, they have been seeing F/T for a month or two. It also helps to try to mimic lifelike motions of a mouse and don't just shake it in front of your snake. Try giving it a little wiggle while slowly moving it around the tank near the snakes vision. proper heating of a F/T can be pretty impotant too. I always heat mine up using hot water and a plastic bag, that way they do not get hot enough to get a cooked smell, but are plenty warm enough for the snake to recognize them as prey.
Thanks for your response...this is only my second year w/ the snake, how long does the fast usually last? He's such a reliable eater the rest of the year! The last time he ate was early December.
Thanks,
Bob
