Super vs. Giant

claret Feb 20, 2005 06:46 PM

What is the difference between these two descriptions? I am leaning toward getting two Giants, but am confused about the Super part. Are Supers bigger sized too?

Also, can you breed any morph to another morph?

Thanks.

I was wondering about that too. My tang that I'm getting is a super. Does that mean it's bigger than the usual size?

I think what happened is that Ron Tremper found out that "giant" is a co-dominant gene. So when you breed to giants together you get a super. Again Im not sure this is right, but I think it might be.

I think a super would be a giant. I dont know what the difference is exactly between a a super and a giant, but maybe when you breed a super to a normal sized you get all giants? I dont know for sure.

Super Hypo would refer to no spots on the main body
Hypo refers to less than 10 spots on the main body

Just as

Super Giant would refer to extra large
Giant would refer to somewhat large

If you're actually talking about an animal that was sold as "super giant", then it is the result of two giants breeding together.

It's just like saying the animal is Super Hypo. Super hypo means no spots, hypo means some spots, and normals are normal. Same thing applies to the giant gene. You have Normal, Giant (which are slightly bigger), and super giant (which are much larger).

Hope that helps a little bit.
