Hi Shaun –
I guess there’s nothing much worse than doubting the word of a Burmese owner’s weight declaration! But that animal looks to me to weigh about 100 pounds, not 200 pounds. Could you tell us how you weighed it? For sure, it’s too large for you to climb up on a bathroom scale to measure.
Thanks,
Joan

Dude,.. this cracked me UP!

that bugged the crap out of me a month or so ago about yellow anacondas? I think it was...........and now you try to ridicule and make accusations? I was under the impression that helping the younger kids was worth some effort, I guess i was wrong....
and to you a good evening as well,
Shaun Keeney
I'm not sure who you are referring to. Was it me who was
ridiculing and making accusations? I was trying to be
flippant. You seem to take an inordinate amount of pride in
your burms length and weight. It doesn't seem to be as big as
you claim, so I figured it might be an old picture. It might
really be that long and thick today. Get it.
As far as the rest of your post goes, again I'm not sure who
you're referring to. I did respond to a post of yours about
yellow anacondas a while back, but it was a serious reply. I
don't think that even with the strongest imagination and greatest
amount of exageration or hyper sensitivity could that be
construed as 'bugging the crap' out of you. I think you should
be commended for helping out young kids if thats what you've
done, but again you're way off mark. I had a burm over twenty
years ago. I was only fourteen at the time, but I'm by no means
a young kid. You might want to lighten up a little chief, it'll
make it a lot easier to enjoy your evenings that way.
Trust me.....tc
I'd love to. The snake was placed in a box and weighed. then the box was weighed separately. I am an aerospace machinist, I can do the math from there. To the rest of you (Brian) I seem to always see you talking down to people........Who are you, and what have you done? What gives you the right to doubt me? In the six months that you have been keeping snake(s), has no one told you to respect you elders? In the future, please refrain from commenting on anything I post, unless you have something positive to add.
Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.
Shawn, I call things like I see them. Unless you are (or whoever is in that photo) is 9 feet tall, that snake is not as long or as heavy as you claim it is. And I don't know what you are referring to about elders and "keeping snakes for 6 months", I am nearly 40 and have been keeping reptiles since I was 8 years old, and breeding since I was about 13. Not that I feel any need to submit my resume` to you or to anyone else, but where on earth did you get the idea that I am new to this? lol. I probably got my first successful litter before you were born.
But seriously,.. I just call them like they look. That snake looks maybe 13 to 14 feet and MAYBE 110 to 120 pounds. I am going more by the standard 3 1/2 inch 2x4's than by the person in the photo. Don't get me wrong,. she's still a fine snake. Still large. Still pretty and impressive. Don't be mad at me for being honest. But ask Rob about a 17 foot, 200 pound snake. He has some pics that make this girl look like a coachwhip. No offense.
You have a good day too. And please,. try to not have hard feelings. I do try to keep the forums a nice place.

I guess i aged well, cause I'm right there with you. The snake is 17 feet and two hundred pounds. If you are skeptical, swing on by. read the scale. whatever you'd like to do. I doubt you produced anything prior to my birth but a green diaper........but that's another story. no hard feelings, just the facts
Fair enough, I suppose. The fact that you don't seem very old doesn't really have to do with your facial appearance,... but that is neither here nor there in the real issue at hand. The snake does not look the size and weight you claim it to be. But I also understand that some angles of pictures can take away from the overall size just as other angles can make them appear twice the size. But to extend the benefit of doubt, in this angle she looks about 13 feet and maybe 110 lbs. I would really be interested in seeing different angles of her if you would take the time. I'm sure everyone else would too.

Shawn,
Where are you located? She does look big, but seriously not that big. I'd like to see more pics of her, though.
He can fill you in....I just post the pictures...

Yeah, it doesn't look nearly that large to me either, unless the guy in the photo weighs 400 pounds. In which case, I won't argue with him whatever he claims it weighs!

Shaun,
I am not trying to put oil on any fires here but take a look at this pic. This was two years ago when my female Burm was 13 foot and between 80 - 100Lbs..
Here she is in her 7' cage.

Looking at your pic I am guessing she might not be 17'. She could be close though. But she looks far from 200Lbs to me. I have seen 200Lbs monsters and you will tell from a picture right away she is a monster.
I like the cage you have her in. That is one big cage.
Peace..
Marcel

Don't take it too personally if people question the size of your burm (I, too, feel that it is less than 200 pounds but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am only basing that opinion on having kept many burms throughout the years). I have been questioned MANY times about the size of our "Big Bertha" (thanks Karen for posting her pic)....I know how big she is and it really doesn't matter to me what others think. Irregardless of actual size, it looks like a real nice burm and if you have kept this snake for 13 years, then kudos to you.

This is probably a dead issue, but I personally have seen shaun and wills snake and She is very close to if not 200lbs...give her a few rabbits and no doubt...The picture really gets me because i saw it in the pic first and thought its not as big as i he explained, but when i saw it in person...theres no question...it is 17 feet and 200 lbs...but anyhow thats my pennies worth..by the way my first post...enjoy
