Boa caging size requirements

thesensei Feb 21, 2005 03:13 PM

Hello all. I am currently looking into adopting a Boa, but am planning to build an enclosure first. I am wondering what a good cage size would be? I was considering a 6'l x 3'w x 2'h, with a "basking shelf". From my reading, this seems to be a fine size, but it is also an awkward size to get the most out of the wood (being 4x8 sheets). Any ideas/suggestions? TYVM

How about go 8 x 4 x 4? Bigger is only better! Really though, I think that more of a concern then getting the most of the wood sheets would be that it is able to fit through a doorway if you decide to move it. Just my opinion based on my own experience.

Well, I'd like to go that big, but I don't have that space. The place I have to put it is only 7' long. So, I need to stay down about 6'. Thanks for the responses though, at least I know that I'm on the right track for a good size!

Really depends on the gender and adult size. I keep all females in a 6'X 2'X 2'. All males are in a 4' X 2' X 1'. They seem to do well like this. Some will tell you they go even smaller than this but It seems like this gives the animals room to stretch out! Anyway, this is only one opinion! You'll get a different one 9 times out of 10! See ya.
