SERIOUS PROBLEM!! PLZ HELP!

spot012 Feb 21, 2005 04:03 PM

Ok so I just got home with my 2 new baby leos. Ones normal the other is a jungle. The jungle is shedding and still has skin on the tail, face, and legs. I've tried getting it off but he isn't too cooperative. And the normal..here's the real problem..has somehow bent his back left leg backwards in a time slot of about 20 minutes. I called the vet and the herp doctor no longer works there and the regular doctor has already left. I'm very conserned!! Please help me!!

It seems back to normal now. He's just laying in the corner so I can't really tell. Could this be a calcium problem? If it is how do I get him more calcium? Just make sure the crickets eat some calcium? Also..how should I get the rest of the shed of my leo. Thanks in advance for any help!

Was the leg bent backwards and wouldn't go back forwards? Try giving as much calcium to these little geckos as possible just to make sure. If they came from a petshop they are probably very malnurished. Try giving some pedialyte with dissolved calcium in it. Make sure you have a bowl of calcium in the tank and you cover the crix/mealworms with calcium. Put some warm water in a container and soak the baby with the shed problem. Make sure the water isn't deep enough for the baby to drown in. Take some Q-tips and gently try to remove the skin...you might have to hold the gecko (even though he isn't cooperating) and try. Good luck!

I've used this recipe many times for babies/other herps I didn't think was going to maye it and they perk right up. Add some calcium to it though.

1 quart of water
2-4 teaspoons of sugar (or 1-2 teaspoons of fructose)
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
