what do wild American Bullfrogs eat?

beetleguy33 Feb 21, 2005 07:34 PM

I just caught an american bullfrog tadpole and it seems not to eat
(or i am obsessed w/seeing it eat).

what is a good food for them when wild?

Also, I would like to know when it will become a frog.
It has no signs of appendages. it is about 2 1/2 inches long from lips to the tip fo the tail.

In the wild bull frog tadpoles eat all sorts of grime, gunk and sludge. Algae, decaying-matter and aquatic plants are some of the things they might bump into in the wild. In captivity they can be fed high quality tropical fish flake, particularly those that are designed for herbivores. I've also fed them sinking algae wafers, boiled greens and spirulina and chlorella which are available from health food stores. Bull frog tadpoles can take years to develop, although usually they don't take more than one year when kept in the warm waters of an aquarium. Good luck,
