I don't think there is a difference tempermant-wise between aegyptica vs microlepis. However you'll likely see a difference dependent on whether one was wild-caught vs captive-bred.
That said, I have a microlepis who is between 5 & 6 years old. I don't know if he was wild-caught or captive-bred. After 3 years with me he's still a bit skittish. He doesn't like to be handled, however he likes to eat from my hand. When we moved two years ago, we had to transfer him from his large cage to a temperary holding aquarium. My wife received several bloody pricks on her wrist from his double-whammy tail slap, and that was when he was less than a foot long. Don't get me wrong, he's not mean at all, he just doesn't like to be handled. He's never tried to bite and in fact always eats peas and dandelion flowers from my hand. I've been told they're either dog tame or mean. I'd characterize mine as dog tame with serious attitude... Kinda like a pit bull. I've also heard the older they get the calmer they get. I sure hope so.
