Corns, Deli cups, 1/8" holes

Temp. houseing, transport to and from events and shipping young snakes deli cups are great.

My first deli cups I purchased from a supermarket deli and used a pocketknife to make some air vents. They worked fine to get my baby snakes home.

I since found a local wholesale supply store where I can buy deli
cups for my use. I also buy some deli cups already with holes punched in them. Some deli cups I use without holes for watering bowls in both the small and medium sizes.

I bought a 1/8" single whole punch and can make holes in the deli cup or lid. I bought the first one at Office MAx for under $4.00. It worked but was hard to get over the lip in the deli cup
as well as the lid if I wanted to punch it.(worked but not great)

I wanted a back-up and today went into a craft store and got a second hole punch (in case the first broke). I got a Fiskars hand punch 1/8" circle. Boy does it work great. It cost about $7.50 but I am so glad I got it. I tried it out tonight to see how it would work. It has rubber coated handles(softer) and goes over the lip of the deli cup with little effort and leaves only a very small mark on the lip when a hole is punched in the deli cup.

So if you ever need to make several holes in the deli cups the 1?8" circle punches work great.

Been doing that myself for years now. I used a craft store here in Tampa, (Michael's) because they always have a coupon in the paper for like 40% off or whatever. I'm a cheapskate. Anyway, what brought me to them was that I needed SMALLER holes than 1/8" for my baby scarlet kings (some had got their heads into the holes and it was really hard to get them out safely) and I found a 1/16" hole punch there that has worked great. On the cups I use, Dart, it is easier to put the punch over the lip one way than the other. Try and turn the punch "upside down" or whatever. It may work for you too.

I have also but the small soldering Iron I used you had to be careful or I would insert it too far into plastic making the hole larger than I wanted . I still use the iron on my shoe and sweater boxes. I found the hole punch much faster plus every hole
is the same size. Make sure deli cups at least room tempure before making hole with punch or deli cup might split.
