So after I cleaned out my tank that my male (Wabo) and my late female (Chabo) were in, I discovered under their log hide a poop and a dead cricket that were covered with tiny white beads. (I can provide a picture if anyone wants to see it) Would these be parasites? Mold/Fungus? I am very disturbed that I didn't see these and that they could get in my tank. I cleaned out the tank completely and washed everything with a very mild bleach solution. As I see it, the 3 potential sources of buggies are gone: crickets, coconut substrate, and Chabo herself. Is there anyway to make sure that future crickets I buy don't have parasites, besides raising them myself?
I'm just trying right now to do everything I can to keep Wabo from contracting this.
Speaking of Wabo, for the past few days now, he has been calling like crazy. He'll croak 6 - 12 times a day, during the day and night. I can start him doing it at any time by imitating his croak myself. Is he super-horny? I've had him for over 1.5 years, and I don't remember him ever croaking this often, maybe 3 times a day at most. Is he sexually frustrated? Is it worth raising babies to try and get a female for him?
Just wondering, thank you to all who replied below to my thread about Chabo's death.
