Follow up to last week's posts

Well, I really appreciate the feedback I got last week. It really got me thinking. I have some good news and some bad. For starters, I had the snakes checked again (by a vet this time) and my male is officially a girl (bad news). I stated last week that I had him confirmed male, but it was apparently wrong BOTH times I had him/her checked (the vendor and a local). The vet was cool, though. He showed me how to probe them myself so I will not be caught in that situation again (good news).
Once again, I learned somethings new this year, and it will help me in the future. My confirmed female (the one who wants the former male as a snack) is looking fantastic and is just getting into a shed (good news). I have no adult male (bad news).
Next year I will have three adult females (good news) still no males until '07 unless I power feed, which I hesitate to do (bad news).
The best news , I guess, is that I now have an excuse to get some new snakes!! Wahoo! my wife will be so happy. What do you think? Can one good male satisfy three girlfriends at once? (we're talking snakes here, not people). Thanks again for everyone's advice. It's a little embarassing to admit that I was wrong about the sexes, but I can move on now. Take it easy!

Well Doug for bad news thats about as good as it can be lol. Usually when you get screwed via the sex of a snake its that you have 2 males. I bet if you check around in your area you can find a male to borrow for a few weeks. Ive dont breeding loans via shipping even. Simply split the clutch and everyone is happy. A note on that though be careful what you introduce to your female(s). Not everyone takes such excellent care of their snakes in other words make sure the snake is healthy. Thats why if possible its better to do it locally where you can see its conditions etc... Also check the classifieds I always see adult males available.
