Hello everyone. I am a grad student at Alabama and am doing a phylogenetic project on Nerodia erythrogaster. It's a pretty neat project and if you have any question about it just let me know. To do this, I need to collect hundreds of tissue samples from throughout their range. I basically can not have too much. So I asking for two things. If you have specimens in your collection that you positively know where they came from and would send me either a scale clip or shed skin and a couple of pics that would be awesome. Second, if you know of populations where I can find erythrogaster that would also be great. I do not plan on taking the snakes unless they are "weird" in some way, just a scale clip. I will be traveling throughout their range for the next few years and would greatly appreciate local guides or at least directions. We all know that certain areas are goldmines while others are complete wastes of time and that certain methods work well in one area while useless in others, and since funding for this type of project is slim, I want to avoid unproductive situations. Thanks for any help on this matter and if there is any questions/worries just let me know and I will try to explain myself better. Feel free to email me if you would like to help. Thanks
Robert Makowsky
