Has anyone's uro walk in a circle for no reason. Today I caught Buddy going in circles over his food dish. He did this a number of times and then just stopped. This is not the first time this has happened.

I've heard people talk about this and recently Turtle has started doing it - I've caught her three times now. I think it's supposed to be a territorial thing.
Does anyone know if females do it, too? Cuz Turtle is only a "she" of convenience - I don't actually know if she's a she or not.

i have never seen any of my females (collared lizard or uro) do the butt drag. hugo is still young so he does not do it either, assuming he is a he. walter my extremly sexually charged collared lizard does it like twice an hour recently (his girlfriend just got pregnant). i know it is the way they leave their scent

Hmmm. I hope that doesn't mean that Turtle's a boy. I wasn't planning on separate housing for another year or so, but if that's the case, maybe I'll have to do a new cage soon than I thought!

Ra has done this a lot; on his food dish, favourite log, ceramic bull skull, and even on Isis! It's definitely about marking territory (and he obviously didn't waste marking Isis as his
) and it sure sounds like only the males do it. I haven't seen Isis circle dance, only Ra.
I hope this helps

Thank you everyone. I guess Buddy wants his dish. Ha! Ha! I now know that he is not going insane. I feel better.
