Need recomendation for purchasing cage

CaptainHook2 Feb 22, 2005 07:42 PM

A friend of mine wants a snake. I suggested Ball python as his first and what do you know, I'll give him one of mine. I told him I'd sell him a very nice cage I made from a dresser for $300. As I added up what I would have to replace, currently building the replacement cage, I realized it was not worth renovating the dresser cage and giving it to him for $300. What would be the best cage to recommend to him from a place like Vision etc. He doesn't know much about the hobby and does not have the resources to "BEEF UP" a store bought cage. He will need everything included. Heat, humidity, venting etc.

Thanx!

I would have him contact Alan at www.cheapcages.com

He will save himself quite a bit of money going that way and Alan will build it to his specifications. Size, heat, lighting etc.. What ever he wants on it.

...and his resources are limited, might he be better off starting with something as simple as a corn or other ratsnake which will require minimum setup and investment. The whole shootin' match can cost him less than $100 and the care would be less complex. Heck, if he wants to go with sterilite, rubbermaid, etc, he could probably get started for less than $50, snake included, if he goes to a reptile show. Duffy

I spoke with him this morning. He found out last night that he's headed to the show in 2 weeks. He won't be back for 6-12 months so he's putting the whole idea on hold. I do appreciate the input though.
