Leo dug ALL of her moss out of her humid hide....

jsc230 Feb 22, 2005 08:03 PM

Any one have any guesses as to why?

Lastnight I was on the cumputer. I looked over and saw that she had dug about 1/2 of the moss out of her hide. So I place that moss back into her hide.

This morning when I got up it was ALL out of her hide and scattered through out her entire cage (a 20L). So I put new moss in her hide thinking maybe it was because it was old moss. Well, when I go home from work tonight she was in the process of doing it again, and had about 1/2 of it out again.

Now, before she might have kicked outa small piece here and there, but this is really odd. At any rate I do have a picture of it if anyone is interested it is at http://jconklin.freestarthost.com/pictures/Hide.jpg

Do you have a male in there w/ her? If so she is probably gravid and about to lay eggs. Most leos toss and kick everything around when about to lay eggs.

No Male. So she cann't be gravid (well i know that sometimes females will still lay eggs without a male.) I didn't see any eggs.

Neither one of my geckos like moss. They wouldn't even go into their humid hides when I put moss in there. Maybe your gecko is trying to tell you that she wants something new. They can be so picky sometimes :0)

I didn't figure there was a reason to worry. I just didn't want to have to clean up all that moss everyday(I'm lazy).

Thanks for all the replies.
