Our SECRET to healthy and happy boas...

drimes Feb 22, 2005 09:15 PM

Fresh air and exercise. Kathy designed and built this exercise tree for our juveniles and large boas a few weeks ago and we have been pleasantly surprised by how well it is working. The best thing about it is how inexpensive and easy it was to make. It is constructed entirely of 2x4 pine that we sanded to make perfectly smooth to avoid any chance of splinters.

I think there are 7 boas in this pic, all between 3'-5'

These guys are 5' and 6'

Can you see the contented look on her face? LOL

Now I will build one. Great idea. I was going to wait until spring and use a branch from outside, and actually make a large tree for them, but I like the idea you have. Thanks Andy

One of the really great things about this design is how EASY it is to remove big boas from it. They seem to like to climb to the top of tree to hang out where we simply lift them off.

I bought my boas a macaw tower Christmas a year ago and it worked pretty good until I put a too-hefty gal on it and broke a couple of the plastic "branches". Your jungle gym is so much better. I will try to do this, but I'm sure it won't look as nice as yours. Maybe they won't notice It is such a great idea for indoors when the weather outside is too cold. They do seem to enjoy climbing around, don't they?
