WOW the Hovabator is amazing! Plz read

Gilbery007 Feb 23, 2005 07:33 AM

Hi all, My hovabator came yesterday so i set it up after reading the instructions correctly let it heat up to about 33C which is like 92f. Then i started adjusting my temp down to about 81-83f. I am so amazed that it stayed within a degree of itself for 25 mins. So i then opened my windows and tried that for 1hour 11 mins, it had gone from 27f-28.5f! I am so amazed at how good it is at keeping a constant temp even with my windows open and at the moment in the UK it is freezing here. Now all i need is some eggs. For any one thinking of building or buying an incubator i really suggest the Hovabator thermal air flow model. It Rocks! Thankyou Gilbery007

Hi Evonne what does 2:0 actually mean???LMAO! Im from the very bottom of the UK, Devon! Yes i want another hovabator now for my eggs that get set to be male. But until i got the money to order a better range of leo's, which includes one of Ray Hine's Hybino Males i wont be needing a second Hova. If u don't know me i have 2 leo's at the moment a female High yellow which i think has some Tang in her. And a male normal who is like 92grms he is huge! My female is weighing in at 62 grms. I put them together for 3 days hoping they would mate but 3 weeks later no signs at all except she has shed yesterday??? But hey Evonne if u wanna chat add me either this one Gilbery007@hotmail.com OR gilbery0072002@yahoo.com. Thankyou Gilbery007

Hovabators are not the worst incubators but they are far from the best.... I have use them but I now build my own.... So far since I have used my home made incubators, I have had a 100% hatch rate..... My incubators only fluctuate a half of a degree higher or lower..... Here is a pic of what I build without the shelves.....

I have a hovabator too, been using it for about 5 years now. The temp inside the containers that hold the eggs fluctuates just about exactly 1 degree. I'm happy with it. (I have to be, since any incobator I built myself would most likely explode or fry the eggs )

Gregg, I notice yours heats from below. Since you built it, I'm guessing you did that on purpose. Do you think bottom heat is better? I've heard discussions pro and con bottom heat for egg incubation, mostly con, but 100% hatch rate is hard to argue with.

I like your incubator Gregg but as long as my Hova does the trick ill be glad. And it should do as it is keeping within a degree which is amazing IMO. As i said all i need now is some eggs! Thankyou for your posts Gilbery007

Hey Leaf....
I have never really put much thought into top heat vs bottom heat.... So far the bottom heat is working well for me whereas the top heat in the hova worked, but not like the incubators I built.... My method seems to be doing the trick pretty well so I dont see changing it..... Who knows, My 100% hatch rate can be a lucky run..... Plus I have not hatched out too many leos in this incubator yet but I did hatch out 57 bearded dragon eggs for a friend because he ran out of room in his incubators.... Out of 57 eggs all of them hatched..... Is that luck??? It could very well be but I guess I will find out for sure as more and more eggs are being layed.... So far I have 16 leo eggs still cooking and they are still plump and pinkish red, when candled.....
