We've been using coconut husk for our python, but she's going to be moving to a bigger tank once we finish building our iguana enclosure, and we were thinking we might want to try something different. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which is the best? We also intend to get a hatchling corn in the very near future, so we'll be looking for something to use there as well. Thanks in advance

I've always used reptibark in my large cage, for like 20 years. I know people have said that they've gotten mites from reptibark and that it tends to bleed off onto thier snakes. I've never had any problems with it but just in case I'm now spraying it with provent a mite and I wash it before putting it into the cage.

Since I've now got three racks of snakes I switched to aspen as everyone here seems to recommend it, I hate the stuff. It gets all over the place, and IMO smells like wet dog and everytime I go into the snake room I come out sneezing (and I know I don't have alergies).

For my WC girl I've put her on Cypress mulch and like it much better, but theres a little dirt factor with that, but it doesn't smell as bad and it doesn't get all over when I take her out. I've never tried coconut, but if it's working for you, you might want to stick with it. Whatever you try, stay away from cedar and sand. Hope this helps.

I have to be honest here ... I use towels. They are easy to clean, no need to constantly buy more, economically friendly, just overall a good choice that I am happy with. I bought green towels so they look nice in my habitats. I know a lot of people like the real woods, and that's fine, but this isn't a bad alternative.
