When will she be fully grown?

KatGrrrl Feb 23, 2005 03:07 PM

Hi,

I have had my female grey rat snake since Feb 2003. She is now 2 yrs and 4mnths old, but isn't as big as some of the rats I've seen in some of your pics.(She's quite long but hasn't got a very big girth)
Could you let me know how big she will get and how old she'll be when she's fully grown.

Thanx in advance.

Kat.

It all depends on how much you feed her, because that will determine how fast it grows. I've had my ratsnake for about 9 years now, feeding very casually and it's pretty much up at an admirable big size.
Patience grasshopper.......it's all part of the hobby. Enjoy the snake for what it is, not what it will be.

You've got a point there. I will enjoy her for what she is, she's gonna be here for a while yet ain't she??

Thanx a lot for that.

She could eventually be around 6 feet long. But I agree with the "no need to rush" and "enjoy them at each stage" philosophy. Hopefully you WILL have her for a long time. :D

After the growth spurt slows down she will thickin up.Seems like its always been around 4-5 years before mine put on some weight. Some of my corns and my adult male baird only get fed once every 2 to 3 weeks. If I feed them anymore they just become obese...Paul
