TRI-COLOR HONDURAN MILKSNAKE SIZE

Dan6971 Feb 23, 2005 03:47 PM

I really, really dig the Tri-Color Honduran Milksnake, the only problem is that they don't get that large. Some people are telling me that they can get 6 Feet, but most people are telling me that they really only get to about 4-5 Feet.

I don't know what to believe. Are the 5 & 6 Footers just freaks of nature? Are their parents large? I really want one, but 4 Feet is a bit small for me. Is there a way to guarantee a 5 Footer or 6 Footer???

Can someone post a picture of themselves holding (stretched out) their 4 Footer and someone do the same with a 5 Footer and 6 Footer, so I can see what it would look like with me?

Thanks so much!!!
Dan

A Honduran Milk is a Honduran Milk. Tri Color, Tangerine, Anery......whatever. It's all the same snake. Did you not just go through this a day or 2 ago and get 8 crillion replies? If you want a snake more likely to get in the 6 foot range try a Black Milk, or get a Boa. Tom Stevens

A color phase of a Honduran Milksnake is a tricolor. There are many other color phases or morphs as Tom stated.
Also,
There were many pictures down below in your LONG thread that showed some people holding an 8 foot Honduran milksnake. Someone else showed you a pic of them holding one over 5 feet.
Hondurans do get over 5 feet most of the time, but just as in any animal species there are larger, taller specimens and there are smaller, shorter specimens.
Humans can grow to 8 feet but not all of us do.
So take it from me, the answers you got a few days ago were right on. Hondurans, Andeans and Ecuadorian Milksnakes are the largest tricolors there are. Black milksnakes get as big or bigger but turn completely black around their second year.
I hope this answers your question and we don't see a huge drawn out discussion about how long a Honduran gets. It has been proven to you already.

Well, I asked in here, I went to the library, looked it up in like 8 books and I get all different lengths.

I don't know what to think.

How many years before they are like 5 feet and how long do they live?

Thanks,
Dan

I just told you what I think and many others did before me down below. They vary in size just as you and let's say your big sister. Some get 8 feet. Some reach 5 feet and stop growing.
Growth depends on how much you feed. Age depends on husbandry, but they will surely live over 10 years. Some one else will have to atest to maximum age.
All I can tell you is buy one and grow it up and then you will know how big yours got and how long it lived. They ARE great snakes.
Peace,
John Lassiter

LMAO, I'm beginning to see a pattern here. If dad won't give in then maybe mom will. Of course that leads to the "top secret" grandparents clause: If mom and dad won't, Granny and Papa probably will

OR you could shrink yourself instead, to make the contrasts in your size satisfactory. Run thru a hot cycle in the dryer. Or bend your knees when you stand holding it.
....trying to be helpful.
