Female Dominance?

Howitser Feb 23, 2005 06:15 PM

Will females also make a "pecking order"? Recently one of my females has been aggressive towards the others, including showing it's dewflap. She's chased the other girls away, even if there's no prey or basking spot she wants. They've been housed together for about 9 months, and this is the first time she (or any of my anoles) have shown aggessive behavior.

Thanks for any insight!

Females will almost always establish a pecking order, especially if they don't have enough "personal space". It's very obvious who the boss is with my females! Just make sure one doesn't become too aggressive, as they can actually end up hurting, or even killing, each other.

I *wonder* if there are any cases where the female Anole in the
group is the dominant Anole in the group????? Do you think Anoles pick up any of their behavior from their Keepers? Peace.
