I have a few qs that might seem begginery but I can't find a lot on them. First does anyone know how easy it is to breed these guys is it easier than a african house snake? I'v read different stuff but how large does the cage have to be to hold one baby one adult and then a pair or trio of adults I have read so many things I am confused. What about a adult food I'v read one jumbo mouse, a couple of regular mice what do you recomend. for substrate I have either sand or aspen. I have a water dish and a climbing branch, and hides I have read some different stuff about hides I'v read have a hide on each side of the cage and a humid hide in the middle, and I'v read have a humid hide and have a hide that is taller and has a bunch of hides in it so they can chose temp because of the light above and the heat pad below. the temp should be about 80 to 90 degrees on warm side. any other helpful information I missed that would be helpful or a good care sheet would be apreciated and answering the qs thanks josh.

Never bred house snakes but my children's have bred going on three times and I did nothing special with them and I am not that experienced.

I'v read different stuff but how large does the cage have to be to hold one baby one adult and then a pair or trio of adults I have read so many things I am confused.

My Children's are a pound and about 2.5ft long. I keep them in 50something qt sterilite. I like the height as they seem to like to climb. (that is about a ft high by 15X20 or so. I keep mine singly unless they are breeding. Babys start in a shoebox and work up in about 8 months.

What about a adult food I'v read one jumbo mouse, a couple of regular mice what do you recomend.

Mine will take large mice, but not huge huge retired breeders. But again, my snakes are not huge either.

for substrate I have either sand or aspen.

Personally I have not found an animal I would keep on sand, it is too drying and I would worry about impactions. And I don't use aspen-just personal preference. If I want particulate substrate to burrow in for hatchlings to feel safe I found Carefresh works well. Otherwise I have had good luck with Cellsorb Plus. Any non burrowing snake is on newspaper.

My CPs have a medium bowl or water and a hide. I keep them at ambient 75-80 with a hotspot on tape of 90-95. Slightly hotter than my ratsnakes. Never used a humid hide. Never needed one.

My pair is kept in a 3' Neodesha with UTH on one end, during the winter only. AM df, and rat pups for the female from Oct to Dec. breeding. Eggs come in January for me and hatch around March. Aspen bedding, cork bark hide area, and thick piece of drift wood for deco. Water dish of course.
Never tried to pump up humidity. Aggresive feeders. Kept together year round. Very easy snake to breed, as is the spotted.

At night time I do but i still give them the max daytime, usually because they're mating or gravid. I sometimes brumate my lonely males because people say it helps produce viable sperm.

I don't really brumate mine. Living in NY the male tends to cut back a bit in the fall and I let him get a bit cooler at night. I breed mine later than the other poster as mine are together Dec-Feb instead of earlier.

No brumation, per se. Photo period only. Heat tape in one back area for the winter.
