i bought this golden gecko her name is coca. i believe she is a girl but am not positive. i have had he for about a week, and when i bought her she could climb the glass in her traveling cage fine. then i put her in her cage and she couldnt climb the glass. i first had a reptile sand , walnut substrate, and then i changed it to bed-a-beast and she still hasnt been able to climb the wall.

I'm not sure why she can't climb the glass...but just wanted to let you know that crushed walnut and bed-a-beast are not good substrates to use, unless you use a feeding dish. Both of these can cause serious impactions.

A couple of questions:

When you say she can't climb, do you mean you have observed her trying to climb the glass but being unable to, or do you mean you see her just sitting on the floor of the tank? The reason I ask is that, if she is stressed from her new environment and/or if you don't have sufficient foliage for her to hide behind while on the wall, it's possible she may not even be trying to climb for now.

If she truly is unable to climb, the first thing to check is her feet. Is it possible she may have had a bad shed, even though you have only had her for a week?

Please give a description of your tank setup, what size tank, what temps/humidity you maintain, what sort of lighting, what plants or branches you have placed, etc. I agree with the other post that sand or walnut shells are definitely a bad idea for substrate. As far as bed-a-beast, I personally don't feel that the risk of impaction is very high, as that stuff is mostly ground pretty finely. If you are paranoid about that sort of thing, you could switch to a sand/soil mixture. Regardless, I don't think your choice of substrate has a bearing on why she isn't climbing.

well i have pictures but i dont know how to put them on... as far as not being able o climb i have watched her and all she does is fall down the glass... she seems to like the setup already because when i first got her she wouldnt move now she is very active but still cant climb.. i looked at her pads when hanging from the top, and there seems to be nothing on them

the temperature s about 76-78 and i dont know the humidity i need to get a humidity gauge. there are 3 pieces of fake plants and a log structure i bought at Petsmart and a stum cave type thing that i also got from petsmart and a water dish.

The first thing I would try would be to get the humidity level up by misting two or three times a day, 75 or 80% would be about right. It's possible she is just beginning a shed cycle and her feet are "out of order" until she sheds.
Also I think your temps might be a bit low, I would shoot for about 85 degrees daytime and drop it by 10-15 degrees at night.
