Charging Iguana

reptileking90 Feb 24, 2005 08:21 AM

My Iguana is around 3.5 feet and I feed him a bunch of food every other day almost as much greens as I eat (along with Reptivite mixed in) but whenever i try to put in his food he charges me for it i thought this is normal because most Iguanas I've seen are aggresive eaters but just want to make sure this is normal or should i feed him every day.

Thanks Derek

Poor baby!!!! He wants more food. Feed him EVERYDAY and even a couple times a day. He will let you know how much food is needed because when his bowl is empty fill it back up. My 1 years old eats 2 dinner plates a day when he is not in breeding season(just got out of his 1st one).

You have to feed iguanas every day! It's not like other reptiles that you only have to feed a few times a week. My iguana ALWAYS has food available to him.

In your post you say you also use reptivite. I hope this ISN'T everyday. Reptivite is only recommended to a max of 2-3 times a week for juvies and 1 time a month for adults. If you are using it everytime you feed your ig, you could cause some serious harm.
