How do I raise the humidity?

reptileking90 Feb 24, 2005 08:31 AM

I have my Iguana in my reptile room and he is outside for the warm months and since we live in wilmington Nc it is usually hot and really humid outside around 80-100% but since it is cold out he is indoors where the humidity is around 30-50% I spray down his huge screen cage 2 times a day fairly heavily but the humidity is still fairly low for Iguanas what are some ways I can keep up the humidity. He also has acces to a soaking tub on the bottom of his cage.

thanks derek

I've been having trouble with humidity all winter. The heater really dries out the air. I was misting him several times a day to get humidity up, but it became so damp in his cage that he developed a small fungal infection.

We finally bought a humidifier. We've been leaving it in his room all day with the door closed, and the humidity has gone from 30% to 60% and things aren't wet all the time. He still gets misted a couple of times a day for good measure, and he has a pool of water in his cage, AND I soak him twice a day in a warm bathtub.

So that's what I would recommend: set up some kind of humidifier with a pond fogger or else buy one.
