Out of crickets Need advice PLEASE

firefighter2598 Feb 24, 2005 10:08 AM

Hey everyone I have run out of crickets and its still a couple weeks to the next show. My local pet store doesnt even carry crickets and weather wont allow for shippment. What does everyone here do for these situations? My beardie is sub-adult and feeds on crickets mealworms and greens. Has anyone here ever fed thier dragons on a greens only diet? Thanks for any help you can give.

Rep-cal pellets soaked and added to salad will provide protein until you can get more crickets. Canned crickets are another alternative--both of my beardies love those! Keep the mealworms for treats only--not much nutrition there and the hard exoskeleton is hard to digest.

The juvi pellets may be easier to feed as they are smaller--they will eat them as they eat their greens.

I feed rep-cal pellets as a staple (spray with water only.) Once in awhile I throw in a waxworm or two. The nutritional value is excellent, it's cheap, clean, they smell good and I can get it anytime of the year. Oh, by the way they don't carry parasites.

OKAY so am I reding this correct? Do you feed exclusively the pellets or at least mainly? Also what are some ways that you guys could suggest to get my beardie to be more excited about eating them? Thanks for the quick response.

That is correct. After a couple of bouts with parasites I decided it was the way to go.

Out of crickets, no problem. Go on the internet and look for the "bugco.com" They will ship to you and are very good.

I usually get next day delivery by fedex, may be more but it's worth it and their crickets come gut loaded already.

Tell bob Stano from Wells, Maine sent you.

Good Luck
