UVB intensity? Please help me make sense of all this

AlteredMind99 Feb 24, 2005 11:05 AM

I am in the process of replacing my beardies UVB bulb, i have been reading over the UVB test charts on beautifuldragons.net. All that information is great but unfortunately it means nothing to me, i understand the chart and the process of the experiment but i dont understand the numbers.

I guess my question is how much UVB, measured in uW/cm2 is optimal for a healthy adult beardie?

When you go to buy your bulb the are going to be labled things like 2.0, 5.0, etc. You definitely want a 7.0 or 10.0 bulb, this provides 7% and 10% uvb, respectively, which are levels appropriate to desert dwelling lizards.

cool! I will just buy one of the new 10.0 bulbs then, i had always gone by the 7.0, i just was trying to make sense of the more technical side of it, but i guess if what im doing is ok then there is no need
